Real Orange Juice

Some people LOVE oranges. Me? I like the taste, but I'm not a huge fan of eating oranges whole. It's a bit too high maintenance for me with the peeling, seeds flying everywhere, juice on my hands and pulp that gets stuck in my teeth. So when oranges make their way into my kitchen, like in this week's CSA box, I use them to make old-fashioned, fresh-squeezed orange juice.  It's delightfully refreshing on a hot summer day or after a sweaty workout, like a long run or hot yoga. I get an instant energy boost and the taste makes me feel like a kid again!

Real Orange Juice

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Oranges

DIRECTIONS

  1. Slice oranges in half (so they look like they do in the picture to the right)

  2. Juice each half using a citrus juicer*

  3. Pour into a small glass and enjoy :-)

*I have the Black & Decker CJ625 30-Watt 34-Ounce Citrus Juicer and I love it. I've never used an expensive citrus juicer so I have no basis for comparison, but this one is extremely affordable and does what it's made to do. It's not much more expensive than a non-electric juicer, so you might as well get this one and save your wrists the extra effort! Easy to use, easy to clean, not too noisy. You can adjust the amount of pulp you want as well. I'm a huge fan.
