I went to the store today to pick up some tahini to make Sweet Potato Hummus, but they were sold out :-( I left the store empty-handed, but when I got home, I remembered that I had a mason jar full of sesame seeds in my pantry so I decided to make my own tahini. Problem solved!
Yields 1/2 cup tahini
- 1 cup Sesame Seeds
- Sea Salt (to taste)
- Preheat oven to 350 F degrees
- Spread sesame seeds onto a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes
- Put toasted sesame seeds and sea salt into food processor and blend for 3-5 minutes (or until smooth), scraping down sides in the process
- Consistency will resemble any nut butter. For a thinner consistency, add water until desired consistency is achieved.
