Tahini

I went to the store today to pick up some tahini to make Sweet Potato Hummus, but they were sold out :-(  I left the store empty-handed, but when I got home, I remembered that I had a mason jar full of sesame seeds in my pantry so I decided to make my own tahini. Problem solved!

Tahini

Yields 1/2 cup tahini

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Sesame seeds

  • Sea salt (to taste)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees

  2. Spread sesame seeds onto a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes

  3. Put toasted sesame seeds and sea salt into food processor and blend for 3-5 minutes (or until smooth), scraping down sides in the process

  4. Consistency will resemble any nut butter. For a thinner consistency, add water until desired consistency is achieved.
